Bressingham Steam Museum & Gardens

Bressingham has something for everyone! Experience the power of steam in all its forms, from main-line locomotives to small stationary engines. There's a magnificent collection of traction engies too; a Victorian steam roundabout, with its stampede of gorgeously decorated horses, ostriches and cockerels and, of course, three separate narrow-gauge railway rides. running for more than five miles around Bressingham's gardens, woods, meadows and lake. But the power of steam is only half the Bressingham story!

When you've enjoyed all the thrilling sights, sounds and smell of the steam age, you can relax with the glory of the garden! Alan Bloom's world-famous Dell Garden extends over six acres, with no fewer than 47 island beds of perennials cutting vivid swathes of colour through the lawns and mature trees. With nearly 5000 different plant varieties on show, there's fascination at every turn for the keen gardener - but even if you know little about plants, you'll appreciate the skilfully planned vistas and spectacular beauty of the garden.

Bressingham Plant Centre

Adjacent to the Steam Museum is the Bressingham Plant Centre, with literally thousands of plant varieties for you to choose from. The Centre specialises in hardy perennialsbut also offers a wide selection of alpines, conifer, shrubs, climbers, roses and indoor plants, and the expert staff will be glad to offer their advice For further information call (01379) 688585.

Adrian Bloom's Garden

Foggy Bottom, Adrian Bloom's famous 6 acre garden, where the accent is on mixed planting and new ideas against a backgound of conifers, is open from 10.30am to 4.30pm. For full details call (01379) 687386.

B & B at Bressingham

Alan Bloom offers moderately priced Bed & Breakfast accomodation at the Hall, where guests are, of course, free to enjoy the gardens. Please note that booking is essential: call (01379) 687243.

We welcome pre-booked parties from schools or other organisations both in and out of season. We can arrange special features, weekend events and rallies etc. Please ring the Museum Office. Catering and buffet facilities are available on site.

How to find Bressingham

The Steam Museum and Gardens are "brown" Tourist Board signposted and easy to find, just 2.5 miles west of Diss and 14 miles east of Thetford on the A1066. Regular trains call at Diss Station, on the main fine from Norwich to London, Liverpool Street.

The Steam Museum and Dell Garden am both operated by Bressingham Steam Preservation Company Ltd., a Registered Charity, which relies on the help and support of paying visitors to meet preservation costs.
