The CORN EXCHANGE was built in 1862 as a one-storeyed building with a
six-column giant portico to Abbeygate Street, and arched windows and giant
pilasters at each side. During 1969-70 the ground floor was converted into
shops and a hall was built above, which is still used as a corn exchange on market days (Wed). At other times the hall is mainly used for concerts.
